The Maria Magdalena Radziwill Foundation supports organizations which conduct socially important events. The charity Fashion Project Kids Fashion Zone will take place in Victoria Olimp Hotel in Minsk on February 9, 2019, which is dedicated to two special dates - World Cancer Day - February 4 and International Cancer Children Day - February 15.
Venue: Minsk, Pobediteley avenue, 103.
Duration: 14.00-19.00.
The project will host a display of children's clothing of Belarusian designers. Children studying at the M.Y.STUDIO Fashion and Style Center, children with oncological diseases and children of Belarusian pop artists will take the podium together.
According to the World Health Organization, in the world more than 200 thousand children younger than 15 years old get cancer and more than 80 thousand - from 15 to 19 years every year . Disease of a child is an ordeal for the whole family. The goal of the project is to support families and form a favorable informational and social field around children with cancer through an inclusive event format: all children will come out to the podium with the exception of any labels, and everyone will be able to express their individuality in this creative event, receive positive support from viewers.
The idea to create the Kids Fashion Zone Fashion project belongs to a wonderful woman, Maria Zhuravleva. She knows how to raise a child with special needs from personal experience. 6 years ago, Maria was diagnosed with a disability, and now she is struggling with an oncological disease. Despite the difficult personal situation Maria finds the strength and courage to overcome all difficulties through creativity. Pupils of the educational center are children of various categories and the staff of the institution creates all the conditions for the development of students' creative abilities, self-realization of their personality.
Maria Zhuravleva: “When a family member of one of its members is diagnosed with a serious illness, it is certainly grief for everyone, but this grief is felt doubly if the child is ill. Children are the greatest value for us, which is why it is most difficult to deal with such a blow of fate as children's cancer. It so happened that I was faced with a series of misfortunes that had fallen on my family: first, my daughter’s disability was established, then I was in a wheelchair myself, and now I am fighting cancer. Therefore, I know what difficulties people with special needs face.
Through this project we pursue several goals. First of all, we want to change the view on the familiar Belarusian fashion, get rid of the hackneyed stereotypes and show that you can look stylish, fashionable and bright dressing in Belarusian brands. Secondly, we want to create a decent platform for the implementation of creative ideas and abilities, both for models and for designers, photographers, young journalists, etc. And, thirdly, I want to radically change the attitude towards children with serious illnesses and with developmental disorders, to show that they do not need a different attitude, but can learn and work with everyone else. My dream is to change the view on the Belarusian fashion, to change the attitude towards it, to build a widely accessible system “model school - student - high fashion”. I do not create illusions, but only believe that together with my team we will make this world a better, cleaner, more honest”.
Marina Borisevich, Deputy Director for Organizational and Methodological Work of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology: “We are pleased to take part in the Fashion Project, as this is a great opportunity for our patients to feel active, confident, beautiful, which is very important for their quality of life”.
The project combines the creative people of Belarus who do one common thing: Belarusian designers, trademarks and Belarusian brands, as well as modeling agencies and schools on the basis of which comprehensive defile basics training is conducted, take part in the project. The project is supported by Belarusian pop artists and their families.
All funds collected for entrance tickets to the project will be transferred to the treatment and rehabilitation of needy children.
